The Western Sydney Wanderers will be hoping to send Japanese superstar Shinji Ono away with a home win on Saturday night when they host Brisbane Roar at Parramatta Stadium.

Ono is returning to his homeland after this season, and the team would no doubt like to finish with a Premiership for their star import.

The Wanderers still need to take the three points against a Brisbane side who has been assured the minor premiership and a home Preliminary Final, which may work into the home side’s favour.

The Wanderers’ need the points to ensure they can maintain second position, which would lead to a home semi final, but is under pressure from Central Coast, Adelaide and Melbourne Victory.

Coach Tony Popovic will be disappointed following their loss this week to Kawasaki Frontale in the Asian Champions League in Japan, and will be keen to see his side bounce back at home in a vital game.

Popovic hasn’t rested many players from the midweek game, and will be looking to the likes of Ono, Haliti, Mooy, and Juric for inspiration and direction on Saturday night.

The Roar could be a danger game, but the Wanderers have an excellent record at home, having lost only two of their last 18 games at home, and haven’t lost at home to the Roar in the A-League.

Home fans will be hopeful these records will continue, and with World Cup spots on the line for some players, all will be keen to impress late in the season.

Being the final home game, a capacity crowd is likely, along with the added bonus of facing the minor premiers in a battle for a top two spot, should ensure a massive night of football.
