Board Update Christmas 2021

Carol North-Samardzic has notified the station board that she is resigning her position as Secretary of the Co-operative, effective immediately. She also stressed the fact that she will not be assisting in any other capacity.

Carol has served in an administrative role and Secretary since 2009 and has been a great strength to both the Board and the membership as a whole. She has tirelessly undertaken many roles including training, governance, event organising and many more. Whenever someone locked themselves out of the building, Carol was there within minutes to let them in.

If something needed doing, it was usually Carol who was the first to put her hand up. When we moved from our Macquarie Street premises to Bigge Street, Carol was there to watch over the deliveries of materials to build our studios and to direct the traffic around the trucks.

Carol was integral to almost every OB undertaken. She checked the site and transported the equipment and was always the first person to turn up and quite often, the last to leave.

One of the most demanding roles Carol undertook, was the broadcast licence renewal every five years. Collating all the support material and writing up and answering all the questions thrown at us in order to justify why our licence should be renewed. It is no small task and one undertaken often with minimal support.

Carol’s departure will leave a gap, within the organisation, which will be hard to fill.

We will always be indebted to her service to 89.3 2GLF and the Co-operative.
