Summer Success; Liverpool Events to Roll On

Love Summer

Love Summer, a picnic-style evening festival series held on Friday and Saturday nights over three weekends, signalled the triumphant return of public events across Liverpool.

Love Summer, which wrapped up on Saturday 13th March, was hugely popular among residents in and around Liverpool who turned out in droves to enjoy local food trucks, performers, garden games, a beer garden and open-air cinema.

“After a difficult year with many celebrations migrating online, Love Summer was a new initiative from Council marking the return of many of Liverpool’s favourite events,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.

“We are thrilled to see how much Love Summer resonated with the community with tickets to each weekend selling out in a matter of days. We want to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the event’s success.”

The event was held at three different parkland sites – Macleod Park in Prestons, Bigge Park in Liverpool’s CBD and Lakeside Park in Wattle Grove.

Mayor Waller said given the event’s success, Council was looking at adding more local events to its calendar throughout the year.

“The community told us how much they loved the use of the different parkland sites and will look to replicate this in the future while ensuring our events continue to remain COVID Safe.”

The next major event will be Liverpool on a Roll which will be returning in mid-April.
