Girl Guides have been selling Biscuits in Australia for the past 55 years to raise proceeds to support local, national and international Guiding activities and programs.

NSW & ACT Girl Guides will be out in force on Saturday May 16 celebrating National Biscuit Day and selling the iconic Girl Guides Biscuits as part of their annual fundraising campaign.

The Girl Guides annual biscuit campaign runs for a limited time from May each year and is the only time that Girl Guides Biscuits are available for purchase.

“It would be wonderful if our girls around the country can sell out of biscuits, we’d sell
close to 13 million biscuits and raise over $1.7 million for young Australian women.” said Kit McMahon, National Executive Officer, Girl Guides Australia.

“The money from the sale of our Girl Guide biscuits helps our young girls and women
develop their skills, grow into leaders in our community and develop their own voice. When
Guides sell biscuits they are not only taking direct action to support the future of their
Guiding Unit, they are also learning first hand the value of money and its impact,” Kit said.

The biscuit campaign raises money for local units to help fund activities and events, buy supplies, and support disadvantaged girls to join Girl Guides – Australia’s peak organisation for girls and young women.

Gillian Garsia, Girl Guides NSW & ACT State Commissioner, says, “We are very excited to once again be selling Girl Guides biscuits.”

“The funds raised from the sale of biscuits allows us to continue to provide important programs in leadership and personal development for our girls and young women”

As well as raising much needed funds for Girl Guides units, the biscuit campaign provides an opportunity for participating Guides to learn a variety of valuable skills.
