Australia Day 2022 Brings Love Summer vibes to Liverpool

Local food vendors are set to showcase the many diverse flavours of Liverpool at this year’s Australia Day two-day event at Bigge Park, which is set to thrill locals and visitors with a pop-up bar, live tunes from local performers and a bunch of much-loved garden and arcade games as part of the Summer Series picnic event from 5pm.

As the sun sets, local people will be able to choose from an array of delicious cuisines while enjoying the open-air cinema with family-friendly movie screenings of Australian favourites The Sapphires and Red Dog.

Visitors will also have an array of beverages to choose from, including a selection of exclusive cocktails and mocktails inspired by the movie screening each evening.

Mayor of Liverpool Ned Mannoun said the event was about shining a spotlight on local businesses, many of whom had been affected by the COVID-19 lockdowns, and to take time out to celebrate the great diversity of our country.

“This year, we’ll be celebrating Australia Day Love Summer-style with festivities that will span two days and involve several local businesses in an effort to stimulate the economy while celebrating the rich culture of our region,” he said.

“We are proud to have a number of fantastic local businesses showcasing their food on the day and bringing the many flavours that enrich the fabric of Liverpool to our plates.

All attendees will be required to follow the necessary COVID-19 protocols in place including checking in upon entry into the event site and wearing a face mask where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Residents who are feeling unwell, especially those experiencing the mildest of COVID-19 systems, are not advised to attend this event.
