The Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking for their first ‘victory’ of the season, when they host Melbourne Victory on Tuesday night at Parramatta Stadium.
The Wanderers turned in one of their most disappointing performances on Thursday night, when they drew 0-0 with Cenral Coast Mariners, in a dour and drab match from both sides.
The Wanderers have only recorded four points this season, with all points coming from draws and will be keen to go into the Asian Cup break with a win to their name.
Melbourne Victory have been in excellent form this season for coach Kevin Muscat, but a rare loss to Perth Glory last week will have stung the Victorians before the break.
The Victory will have key players missing for the Socceroos’ Asian Cup campaign, while Western Sydney will only miss Tomi Juric and Matthew Spiranovic for the match, which is the last before an enforced break in the competition.
Wanderers coach Tony Popovic will be looking for a better finishing display from his side, after the poor showing against Central Coast last week, with only four shots in target in 90 minutes from his side.
Popovic will know his team is capable of playing better football than they’ve shown in recent weeks, and will be looking to find a way to ensure this is shown against one of the form teams in the A-League.
Popovic will be looking to the likes of new signing Nick Kalmar, Mark Bridge, and Nikita Rukavytsya to find the net for the Wanderers, if they are to have any chance of an upset result.
Nick Kutnjak, Matt Connellan and the 2GLF Football team will bring you all the action from Parramatta Stadium on Tuesday night from 7pm, with kickoff at 7.30pm on www.893fm.com.au
