Like To Be a Memeber of 2GLF ?
Introduction
Until 2010, membership of the Liverpool-Fairfield Community Radio Co-operative has not been a requirement to be a volunteer or presenter at 89.3fm 2GLF. Over the years there have been presenters who are also Co-operative members; however, there are long time presenters who have not become members.
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is outline membership requirements from 2011. By becoming a member of the station, volunteers and presenters will understand how the station is operated. Members will be expected to take ownership of the station by voting for the Board and having input into the decision making processes.
Policy
1. All persons acting in the capacity as a volunteer or presenter are required to become members from 1st April 2011.
2.Life membership will be approved as per the Rules of The co-operative Schedule 5, 3.3 and on the payment of a token fee 7.2(a).
Procedure
On requesting to volunteer or present at 89.3fm 2GLF all interested parties will be informed of the requirement to become a member. The benefits of membership will be outlined.
The payment of airtime by an organization does not exempt the presenter/s from membership. Such presenters are the on site face of the organization and should be involved with the running of the station on behalf of their organization.
Presenters who let their membership lapse will be reminded that the Co-operative rules require membership fees to be paid by 1st July each year or membership lapses. A lapse of membership will be taken as the presenter no longer wishing to broadcast
Responsibilites
It will be the responsibility of the Regulations Director and the Treasurer of the Board to ensure that all volunteers and presenters are financial members of the Co-operative. All newcomers to the station will have their membership application taken to the next available Board meeting. Once their membership is accepted new members will be able to volunteer and apply for programs on payment of the membership fee.
